Six MTB'ers from Warrandyte (Warrandyte Cyclopaths) and two St Kilda MTb'ers ventured down to Forrest for a weekend of MTB bliss. We were met by Roland on a cool and damp morning Saturday and taken for a wonderful experience. Roland took us on back roads and trails to the Yaugher trail head and Marriners run. The team thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of the Marriners circuit and really appreciated the hints on some of the more difficult sections. The mornings session was completed by riding back to Forrest via the Rail Trail.
The afternoon was spent riding 4,5 and 6 in the southern section. We enjoyed the challenge thrown out to us particularly on track 6.
Next morning was spent riding tracks 2 & 3. Red carpet was very challenging due to the amount of rain that had fallen on it. None the less the drier sections of red carpet provided exciting riding. We then proceeded to Tracks J2 and 7. This section was much drier than the southern section. We found ourselves engrossed in single track heaven! We headed back to Forrest township with the knowledge that this part of the world is truly unique. All of the trails are set in a truly magnificent bush environment. The tracks have been designed by mountain bikers for mountain bikers. The partnership between the riding community and DSE is magnificent. We will definately come back to Forrest to experience this very special MTB paradise!
We were all so impressed with the Forrest experience that we joined The Forrest MTB & Cycling Club Inc!!
