Read more...Young Hamish AKA"The Freakish Giant" Middleton is hammering it up on the Victorian XC Mountain bike circuit.
Having only just turned 13, his mother Marie religiously carries around his birth certificate to prove his age, due to his strength and presence on the bike, competitors and onlookers can be heard questioning if he really belongs in the U15's age category.

So now that we have his age sorted, his ability and love for riding definitely should not be questioned.

It was fitting on Friday 13th to have 13 competitors starting the race, with Sandy making a good impression of the grim reaper.

Two laps of Yaugher Super Loop with a mass start was the format, close racing followed with Daryl Burns and Peter McDonough keeping each other in site. At the end of the first lap Daryl had a two second lead. Places changed with Peter taking out the finnish by the same slender margin.

Teams of two for a one hour mini-enduro, racing a fun circuit around the West Barwon Reservoir wall.   Great spectator areas to catch most of the action.

Trail number 3 at Forrest is without doubt the premier trail here. Many argue that it is perhaps the number 1 XC downhill trail in Australia.  The trail has featured as the "Timed Descent" in both Otway Odyssey, and is a favorite amoungst Forrest visitors.

It was decided at a meeting on the 17th September to incorporate the newly formed Forrest Mountain Bike & Cycling Club.  Formerly under the umbrella of the Forrest Community House, the new club will seek MTBA and Cycling Australia affliliation.

The club will have a goal to promote cycling of all types in the area and most specificallly promote Mountain Biking on the Forrest Trails.
