30 November 2009
Despite some of the worst weather conditions ever for a 24 hour event, the 2009 Kona 24 hour was a massive success. Not only for the promotors Full Gas Promotions, but also for the township and people of Forrest.
Thursday night gave us a preview of the weather conditions to come. Over the 4 days from Thursday Forrest had a little over 80mm of rain. Contingentcy plans were put into place early on for track changes should the rain get too much. These changes were realised only 2 hours into the race.
With the race quickly turning into one of atrition, the real athletes came to the fore, with many "would-be" riders pulling up stumps early.
Solo summary.
Male Solo:
- 1st Jason English
- 2nd Brad Davies
- 3rd Andrew Bell
Female Solo
- 1st Naomi Williams
- 2nd Courtney Shinn
- 3rd Jac Connell
