Forrest Mountain Bike Trails, Australia's number 1 Mountain Bike destination - Forrest Accommodation

Forrest local Jessica Douglas proved again she is in good form by taking out the Scott 24 hour Australian Championships in Canberra on the weekend.  Jess had to fight off stiff competition early on, but went on to record a comfortable victory by over 2 hours.

Jessica Douglas after winning the Scott 24 hour Australian ChampionshipsThe course at Mt Stromlo in Canberra couldn't have been further from the trails at Forrest if it tried.  Dust, rocks and the occassional tunnel, greeted the riders at Stromlo.  Jessica handled the course perfectly and didn't falter once.  Although on an early practice lap, a snake gave her an unexpected fright which resulted in a small crash.

Her race went perfectly to plan and her husband Norm was kept busy keeping making sure she consumed more than 20,000 kilojoules during the race.  That is equivalent to about 12 Big Macs.

Jessica will now look towards the Kona 24 hour to be held in Forrest on 29th December 2008, where she is hoping to defend her 2007 solo title.  Mountain Bikers from around the Colac area are encouraged to get together a team to enter into the Kona 24 hour, and support this fantastic event.
