Due to recent DSE controlled fuel reduction burning, some of the trails at Forrest were closed for a couple of weeks. This operations are now complete and all trails are open again.

With beautiful Autumn days down here right now, there is no better time to come and check out what Forrest has to offer.  The burning always gives the landscape a totally different look and this is the case now.

The Forrest MTB & Cycling club has some awesome juniors.  Next weekend the will be travelling together to the Australian National Mountain Bike Championships.

Prior to the event, world champion Jess Douglas took the boys through their paces in the lead up.  Here is a video with just some of what they got up to.

Here we go for another year.  Now in it's 5 straight year the Otway Odyssey and it's some 1500 competitors will invade our little sleepy hamlet.

The Otway Odyssey is widely considered one of the toughest most gruelling one day Mountain Bike races in the world.  Starting in Apollo Bay the event heads towards Forrest along old logging trails until it reaches the world class single track that is Forrest.

There is a change to the venue for the final round of the Bike Guru STH West Junior MTB Series.

Tomorrow night, (Friday Feb 11) is the final round

Traditionally the Otway Ranges (where we are located) is one of the wettest areas of Victoria.  During the winter of 2010 we did get quite a bit of rain.

However over the past 4 weeks of deluge of weather around Victoria, we have actually missed most of it.

So for all you who are wondering "are the trails at Forrest open right now"... the answer is:

THE TRAILS ARE OPEN AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION!

Another great event tonight with approximately 20 riders coming out on a beautiful evening for some great racing.

The lap was much shorter than last time, which resulted in some awesome racing.
