Forrest local Jessica Douglas proved again she is in good form by taking out the Scott 24 hour Australian Championships in Canberra on the weekend.  Jess had to fight off stiff competition early on, but went on to record a comfortable victory by over 2 hours.

After last nights meeting a new proposed road closure has been decided upon for this years Kona 24.   Representatives from Vic Roads and the Colac Otway Shire were in attendence, and they both has very positive things to say about the Kona 24 hour, and it's positive impact on the Forrest community.

It was decided at a meeting on the 17th September to incorporate the newly formed Forrest Mountain Bike & Cycling Club.  Formerly under the umbrella of the Forrest Community House, the new club will seek MTBA and Cycling Australia affliliation.

The club will have a goal to promote cycling of all types in the area and most specificallly promote Mountain Biking on the Forrest Trails.

More than 14 members of the MTBSkills.com.au "Race Development Squad" are heading to Forrest for a weekend of training, skills, mini races, and a mechanical maintenance session.

They are all members of the MTBSkills Race Development Squad run by mtbskills.com.au run by locals Norm & Jessica Douglas.  Most of the members are staying in local accommodation and will be here Friday and Saturday night.

Much planning has gone into a group visit to Forrest, by a group of Bicycle Victoria Forum regulars.

Some 10+ keen Mountain Bikers are about to decend upon our little hamlet, for 2 days of riding.  Most have already booked accommodation and will be looking forward to a big meal and perhaps a few "Bevvies" at the pub on Saturday night.

A big thanks to Norm and Jess for the work in putting it together. The Forrest "Out Of Range" MTB club is currently being lead by a small but very enthusiastic group of local riders, through the site we hope to get the message out to all visitors in the area about what the club has to offer.
