Fun and FAST! The best feature of the "Red Carpet" is that the faster you go, the more technical it becomes. Used as the "Timed downhill" in the Otway Odyssey, this trail feature tight switchbacks, some steeper sections, and the best finish you will find. The Red Carpet is a MUST DO trail when in Forrest. WET WEATHER WARNING: This trail doesn't cope too well in very wet conditions
Adobe Flash Player not installed or older than 9.0.115!
After the rain we have had over the past month, red carpet has been holding onto a bit of water. A few locals managed to put some drainage cuts in the trails. Will see how they managed the overnight rain. Best at this stage to NOT ride Red Carpet. Give it a few more weeks to dry out a bit. A Great warmer weather trail.
Damn Greasy. Not coping well with the wet. You would have to wonder whether it might be best to close it for a bit. I know that wouldn't be popular.. but.
Stay off Red Carpet and stick to No 2. trail with the gravel base. At least you will get a good climb and it is still a fast descent minus the technical stuff.
Went for my first Forrest Ride today. Loved it. No 2 is in reasonable condition, however the upper section of Red Carpet is extremely wet and slippery. Also track maintenance underway and there is branches over the trail for about 100m in the middle section. Lower section is in good nick. Will be a great ride in the dry, but maybe wise to stay away for a few weeks.
