Resident Coach & Endurance MTB Rider, Jess Douglas was recently successful in recieving a grant from the Australian Sports Commission for Women In Sport Leadership.
Jess proposed to grow the female participation in Mountain Biking in general and to also link these women to Forrest MTB & Cycling Club.
Forrest MTB & Cycling Club is renowned for its laid back social races and events. However we are still working on growing our female participation and membership.
Whilst the initial skills coaching / women’s social rides will be an ongoing vision and development for the Forrest MTB Club, the initial concept is to get interested women feeling more confident on their mountain bikes.
Learning how to ride all sorts of trails and maybe even participating in club events with the long term goal of getting together FEMALE teams for Mountain bike events such as Kona 24hr which is held in Forrest.
Including the Forrest 6hr in 2010.
The WOMEN'S side of the club will evolve and eventually some of you may even be helping new female members on the trails!
The Coaching, skills and social rides are free to FULL RACING MTBA/Forrest MTB Club members or a $5 social ride day licence will need to be purchased before you can participate for insurance purposes.
Becoming a member is the next step, if you are having fun and think you want to take it further!
